Facelift For A Lampshade

February 18, 2009

Today Sister S and me pimped an old white IKEA lampshade.

We sliced up the old shade and used it as a pattern for fabric and lampshade-foil which is adhesive on one side.

First we sticked together the foil to a shade and then we adhered the fabric to the foil like this:

Where fabric meets fabric we helped a bit with textile-glue.

Well, it´s a lampshade…but not a very nice one. The idea of the day was: bias bindings!!! I finished the lamp with bias bindings, sewn on the machine!!! Brilliant…

And here is the result! It was fun.

Gasp! I got one of those suckers lying around somewhere… Perhaps I should do something about it… If only I could find such a lovely fabric!

I love what you did with this lamp!

I see that you, like me, like sewing and love fabric! :)

    Best wishes from Portugal,
